Hans-Dieter Flick: German Football Manager and Former Player

Background

Hans-Dieter "Hansi" Flick is a German professional football manager and former player. He was born on 24 February 1965 in Heidelberg, West Germany.

Playing Career

Flick played as a midfielder for several German clubs, including Bayern Munich, 1860 Munich, and Köln. He won the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich in 1986 and the DFB-Pokal in 1984.

Coaching Career

After his retirement as a player, Flick began his coaching career. He served as an assistant coach for the German national team under Joachim Löw from 2006 to 2014. In 2019, he was appointed interim manager of Bayern Munich, following the dismissal of Niko Kovač. Under Flick's leadership, Bayern Munich enjoyed a period of unprecedented success. He won seven major trophies in just over two years, including the Bundesliga title six times and the UEFA Champions League in 2020. In 2021, he took over as manager of the German national team.
