San Diego Road Repair Crews Push Through High Heat
Tired, sweaty road crews continue to work
When most people seek shelter from the San Diego sun, road crews are just getting started on their day.
With temperatures expected to reach 100 degrees again today, crews will be out repairing potholes, repaving roads, and doing other maintenance work.
It's tough work even in mild weather, but it's especially challenging in the heat.
Repairs are necessary, despite difficult conditions
The crews know that their work is important, especially after the recent heavy rains that have left many roads in need of repair.
"We know it's not easy working in this heat," said Public Works Director James Nagelvoort. "But we want to make sure that our roads are safe for everyone."
The crews are taking precautions to stay safe in the heat, including drinking plenty of water, taking breaks in the shade, and wearing loose-fitting clothing.
